

Odumase – Report on Smart Step Incubation Centre Don Bosco Technical Institute
INTRODUCTION
Smart Step incubation Centre program is designed to support entrepreneurship and innovation among students and alumni of Don Bosco Sunyani and Don Bosco Ashaiman to bridge the gap between classroom education and the job market.
The aim is to provide a platform for idea generation, prototype development and business incubation. An office is allocated with the provision of the needed logistics for the smooth running of the incubation centre in my facility. Six facilitators were assigned to support the facility coordinator to manage the centre.
SEMINARS
Series of programs have been run after the capacity building for trainers and selected young entrepreneurs in Ashaiman and Sunyani. Among them include the following;
- Engagement with a section of the students to share the idea of smart step incubation in our facility
- Official launching of the incubation centre to create awareness of the smart step project in our facility.
- Engagement with freshers for debriefing on opportunities available in our facility so far as smart step is concern.
- Further engagement with the various departments to encourage them appreciate the various program they are offering and the market prospects of their choosing career.
- One-on-One engagement with the mentees to find their respective needs and challenges and also assist them modify their individuals plans towards their choosing career.
- Under the period of reporting, two major seminars were organized for the entire students with resourced entrepreneurs on how to;
- Venture into business with small capital in Ghana.
- Regulations governing business ventures in Ghana.
In all resources were made available to execute the various programs.
ACTION AND FUTURE PLANS FOR THE INCUBATION CENTRE.
- Idea generation and prototype development workshops:
We planned organizing a smart step challenge, an event which was to last for four weeks for ideas generation and prototyping but due to our academic calendar and financial resources, it has been postponed to February, 2026.
- Business incubation and mentorship.
For easy sustainability, we have plan series of programs which will be run along with their curriculum activities for better appreciation of the incubation.
- Access to funding and resources:
We have plan to write to other stakeholders to seek for their support in sustaining the incubation centre in order to continue with the good work started by The Union.
- Networking opportunities:
We will also like to plead to the Directors if they can link us up with industry experts, investors, partners and other stakeholders who are willing to help support this important project for its sustainability in order to meet the SDG’s goals.
