Zaragoza – The Smart Step Final Event 2nd-5th December 2025
Don Bosco Youth Network West Africa (DBYN) participated in the final event of the Smartstep project hosted in Zaragoza, Spain. The organization was represented by Mr. Benedict Mensah, the Project coordinator together with one of the facilitators of the Don Bosco VET centre, Madam Linda Boakye (Don Bosco Technical Institute Odumase-Sunyani).
The “Smart Step” project is an Erasmus+ Capacity Building project focused on upskilling Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs in Ghana and Cameroon to foster smart entrepreneurship. It bridges education with the labor market through partnerships from Spain (coordinated in Zaragoza by Asociación Mundus), Belgium, Italy, Ghana, Cameroon, and Nigeria. The project’s final event took place in Zaragoza, Spain, from December 2 to 4, 2025. This very productive event was hosted by Asociación Mundus, it marked the conclusion of the project and included: Internal sessions on project results, action plans, and long-term impact.
The event afforded partners most especially Don Bosco Youth Network among others to throw more light on events organized during the implementation of the project as well as elaborating future plans for the project at the school level.
Major visits undertaken as part of the event included visits to local innovation hubs, such as Etopia (Center for Art and Technology), Zaragoza Activa, La Terminal, and CIEM Zaragoza. The participants were introduced to these installations as well as familiarizing themselves to the procedures and policies governing these installations.
A round table discussion on education and entrepreneurship, moderated by Oscar Morant from Universitat Politècnica de Valencia, with panelists from Ghana, Spain, and other partners where our project coordinator represented and gave the thoughts and perspectives from the African eyeball.
The event emphasized “Connecting Africa and Europe for innovation and entrepreneurship,” celebrating partnerships and the entrepreneurial outcomes achieved.
