Introduction
The Smart Step project is a collaborative network mainly into inclusive transversal training program in the African Vocational Education Training (VET) schools and institution to skill the learner as future entrepreneurs.
This program aligns with Don Bosco Training Institute broader mission of providing vocational training and education, particularly for the youth. The entrepreneurship workshops in Don Bosco has become increasingly popular educational programs designed to foster innovation, creativity, problem-solving, and leadership skills among students.
Objectives:
- It aim is to create opportunities for self-employment and economic growth.
- Establish a system of exchange of good practices, learning process and activities among the partners
- Introduce specific training on entrepreneurship to both VET facilitators and learners: These hands-on sessions introduce young learners to business concepts like idea generation, pitching, market research, and sustainable ventures.
These programs emphasize an entrepreneurial mindset – resilience, risk-taking, and real-world application – preparing students/trainees for future careers.
Key Features and Activities performed so far.
Duration and Format:
Workshops range from one-day to weekly engagements. Many are facilitated in-school by the Smartstep team as well as experts/mentors/resource persons, with tailored content for the entire student body.
Common Activities:
- Departmental engagement for the formation of entrepreneurship club at the school by July 2025.
- Entrepreneurship awareness seminar for students by August 2025.
- Launching of Entrepreneurship and Business Club by August 2025.
- Entrepreneurship activity dubbed “Inspire to aspire by October 2025.
- Guest speakers, mentorship from local entrepreneurs.
